Assembly Names Neil Smith EVP, Director of Marketing & Business Development

MDC-owned media services agency Assembly today announced the appointment of Neil Smith as Executive Vice President, Director of Marketing and Business Development.

In this role, Smith will oversee the agency’s new business operations while working with senior leadership to develop and execute the agency’s overall marketing platform. Smith, whose appointment is effective immediately, will report to Jeff Brooks, Assembly’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Smith is a seasoned marketing, advertising and business development executive with over 20 years of experience working with top brands including Apple, Microsoft, MINI, Bank of America, Macy’s, Hershey, LEGO, De Beers, Johnnie Walker and Miller Lite, among others. He comes to Assembly from BPN: IPG Mediabrands, a media agency owned by the Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG), where he served as Senior Vice President, North American Business Development Director.

Before joining BPN: IPG Mediabrands, Smith worked as Managing Partner, Head of Account Management at Gotham Inc., where he led all new business efforts with client wins including Sunglass Hut and AA/Citi AAdvantage credit cards. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President, Executive New Business Partner at McCann-Erickson where he worked with clients such as Pfizer, Staples, IKEA, Sony Mobile, Chevrolet and Ethan Allen. Smith also held senior positions at BBH, Butler Shine Stern & Partners, Autodesk, Sun Microsystems and JWT. Earlier in his career, he worked at Ketchum, Deutsch, NW Ayer and DDB.
