BOL Production House takes us on a nostalgic journey across 12 of the world's most renowned works of art

Imagine the Sistine Chapel as an 80s video game intro. Picture discovering the Giza Necropolis one pixel at a time, with some good old 16-bit music in the background. And now expand this to an entire collection inspired by classic masterpieces.

Art Titles' latest project with All in Pixel accomplished precisely this. They embarked upon a nostalgic journey across 12 of the world's most renowned works of art, reimagining them in an '80s video game style, produced by BOL.

They like to push the boundaries of pixel art and play with new realms of possibility in this field. And what better way to do it than by exploring the world's most famous architectural and art wonders from a video game point of view?

The collection was created, starting from one of the oldest constructions on Earth, the Giza Necropolis, and gradually working their way to the present and to the very masterpiece they can see from their studio windows in Barcelona: La Sagrada Familia. Their aim was to balance the three main art forms in the process, giving architecture, sculpture, and painting their moment to shine.

The process from classical art piece to pixel art, including the animation, hosts some easter eggs about every piece's history or context, leaving clues for all the serious players out there. A hint is given: the lightning behind Michelangelo's David is not there casually, and neither is the marble block!

Seeing classic works of art in this form triggers both a sense of nostalgia and the novelty of looking at some of the most famous landmarks and paintings with fresh eyes. Epicness and longing collide, creating a unique and magical experience that is bound to make one wonder: how would they play out in a real video game? How would that game develop, and what would it be called?

With every piece opening up new worlds and prompting these questions, one can't help but imagine Da Vinci playing something like this and winning the quest of finding the stolen Mona Lisa - that would be the perfect game over.
