Aeroméxico Celebrates the Art of Flight with High-Flying Luchadores

Aeroméxico and Ogilvy Mexico turn the gravity-defying moves of Mexican wrestlers into a symbol of national pride

Inspired by the gravity-defying artistry of Mexican wrestlers, Aeroméxico and Ogilvy Mexico have launched 'Aeromexicanos,' to celebrate the passion for flying and Mexican pride.

Rafa Reina, CCO Ogilvy Mexico and Miami, stated, "A true 'Aeromexicano' is someone who feels the excitement of being in the air. So, we thought: what about taking those who give their best in their acrobatic flies jumps in the ring, flying high? Together with Aeroméxico, we surprised wrestler Barack with his first flight. Having followed his career, we know Barack has effectively been 'flying' for over four years in the ring with his incredible jumps. We developed a mathematical analysis to quantify his 'flight hours' based on a formula that included his years of experience, distance travelled in the ring, and time spent airborne during jumps. Now, thanks to 'Aeromexicanos,' he had the opportunity to turn those hours into a direct international flight to Cartagena, Colombia, reaching altitudes of over 35,000 feet."

This initiative was captured by Alexis Omman, the most recognised social media influencer in giving visibility to social matters in Mexico. Through his platforms on Instagram and TikTok, Alexis published Barack's experiences, generating a great impact on the audience.

Adria Jauregui, creative director of Ogilvy Mexico, added, "Beyond Barack, we also got Tigre Blanco to fly to Monterrey for an interview with Latin Lover, a true icon. It's been incredible to see them share their experiences and their passion for what they do. This is more than just an advertising campaign; it's about forging an emotional connection with the audience by sharing the joy of flying. We've reached thousands of Mexicans with our message, driving engagement and building brand value."

“We kicked off this incredible 'Aeromexicanos' journey with a film featuring wrestling icons Redimido, Tigre Blanco, Bandido, and Barack," commented Diego Muñoz, executive creative director of Ogilvy Mexico. "We recently launched the social media campaign showcasing Barack and Tigre's trips. We're thrilled with the impact this idea has had. We've put a unique spin on creativity, successfully representing the art of flight in a completely new way. Our efforts have resulted in a tangible brand experience, and we thank our clients for their trust in this concept”

Xiomara Martin, vice president of Marketing at Aeroméxico, assured, " We are very excited about this campaign because it reinforces our brand’s purpose. At Aeroméxico, we aim to pay tribute to Mexican wrestlers, who are true artists of flight. We invite them to fly with us, fostering an emotional connection between the public through culture and the travel experience”,

As Mexico's flagship airline, Aeroméxico recognises the importance of preserving and promoting our traditions and culture, which is why the campaign is built on Aeroméxico's purpose: "to elevate the journey to an extraordinary experience, taking care of you and our world."
