AdPeople Worldwide’s copywriter Loke Shi-Ying and associate art director Allan Zhang have won the
Singapore MediaCorp Young Creatives Competition in the print category. This victory
allows them to move to the next phase and represent Singapore at the Cannes
Young Lions competition in June 2015.
The 41 teams joining the
competition were given 48 hours to create an ad for the Singapore Children’s
Society that would raise awareness about the effects of cyberbullying on
teenagers in Singapore. The AdPeople team decided to work in the print
category, as there are few publications in circulation about the issue.
Realising that children and
teens between the ages of 10 and 16 are encouraged to read at school, the team
inserted a page in their favorite novels and school-required texts with an
alternate storyline about cyberbullying and cyberbullying prevention.
“We are very proud of our
work, and we are especially thrilled to go to Cannes and compete against the
best in the industry,” said Shi-Ying. “Not only will we be able to compete in
the Young Lions competition, but we will also be able to see the latest
creative work that’s being created and recognised.”
MediaCorp is the Singapore
representative for Cannes, and it holds an annual competition to send Singapore’s
young creative talent to the awards festival. The winners get an all-expense
paid trip to the Cannes Lions Festival and tickets to the events.
