Not an actor, not a model, no - a little spider in love is the main character of Samsung’s latest film from Leo Burnett and Zauberberg Productions.
The story follows a little arachnid called Sam, who catches sight of an advertising poster for the new Galaxy S22 Ultra from a terrarium window. Immediately, it's all about the phone. No wonder, because the camera lenses of the smartphone are the most beautiful ‘spider eyes’ in the world to Sam.
Accompanied by Nazareth's classic song ‘Love Hurts,’ the spider experiences a roller coaster of emotions. But then when the poster is suddenly replaced, the young happiness is threatened with an abrupt end. But since love, as we all know, knows no bounds, the unusual love story nevertheless finds a heartrending happy ending.
Samsung’s eight-legged film heroine Sam is not a real spider, of course, but was brought to life using elaborate 3D technology. Sam is modelled on a jumping spider, whose spider family currently includes 5,862 species. Unfortunately, the eight-legged creatures are not popular with everyone. But they are actually very fascinating creatures.
Directors Dorian and Daniel on creating Samsung ‘Love knows no boundaries’: “Feels strange when you can't direct actors on set but got all the options later on to tweak the emotions. Thanks to the many people at the Mill for bringing this little CG fellow to life”
