Minecraft is more than a game. It’s a wide-open world full of action and adventure that inspires a community of players to build and explore. With such an active and collaborative community, Minecraft developers take pride in continually tweaking, updating, and evolving the world and biomes in the game to give players something to get excited about.
To announce that Minecraft will be adding two of the most beloved animals in the world, cats and pandas, into the game this Christmas as the first part of a game update coming to Minecraft, 215 McCann is working with Minecraft to tell the untold story of 'Cats and Pandas' on the smallest of scales.
Well, the Pandas are new. And most of the cats are new, but some basic cats were in the game previously but only available once a player tamed an ocelot. And these new cats are awesome.
The tale of an ancient nap-off gone horribly wrong is told on handcrafted sets with miniature puppets and props. This created a unique visual storytelling approach that stayed true to the blocky aesthetic of the digital world of Minecraft, turning it into a charming blocky physical world made of props and scale models.
The 'Cats and Pandas' film premiered at X018, an Xbox event, on November 10th and will run on owned and operated channels organically. Cat and panda mobs come to Bedrock Engine platforms (mobile devices, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC) next month.
