Brands call us when they’re ready for change. Sometimes it's a big change (like completely reimagining their brand). Sometimes it's a smaller change (like launching a new campaign or entering a new market).
And while traditional agencies love to pretend that affecting change is a piece of cake... as a challenger agency that works with challenger brands, we know that's far from true.
What makes us different is that we acknowledge that change is hard. Because in all of our years of helping brands make seismic shifts, it's never not been a lot of hard work.
And only by acknowledging these challenges, can we overcome them together. Or better yet, turn them into opportunities.
We like to say whatever makes it harder makes it better. So we created a club for people who agree.
We do brand advertising, identity, and design work. But we also have a few other dos and don'ts that we live and die by:
DOs:
More creative for your buck - A higher percentage of our roster is creatives because we expect them to strategize and plan. So you get more creatives noodling every aspect of your brand. And you’re not stuck paying for weeks of strategizing and planning devoid of creative input. Only to realize later it’s full of creative holes.
We'll push you to make hard work - Candour is hard work. But we do it because an agency full of yes people doesn’t benefit you. Expect us to challenge you (in the most Canadian way ever) because it’s really the only way to make work that goes beyond bold to solve actual business problems.
We don't have a style, you do - We’re always helping brands get noticed, but never with cookie-cutter boldness. When we make brave, fresh, never-been-done work for you, it falls directly out of your brief, and builds on your brand’s insights. Anything else is taking the easy way out.
DON'Ts:
No wallpaper allowed - We’re not in the business of making what we call “soft work”, aka work that’s skippable, ignorable or unmemorable. It doesn’t get us fired up every morning, and it definitely won’t do what you need it to.
We know what we don't know - We’re experts in what we do. But we don’t pretend to know your brand like you do. That’s why we can’t shut up about collaboration - because when we all bring what we know to the table, the work is better for it 200% of the time. PS bringing donuts to the table doesn’t hurt either.
Say bye to silos - We don’t do separate design and advertising departments, because your brand should show up consistently across design, copy, animation, strategy, and beyond. No matter how big your brand is, consumers expect consistency.
