Eiji Tanigawa, our very own director created an aggressively attractive driving ad for Honda global CIVIC TYPE R featuring 2021 F1 Drivers’ World Champion, Max Verstappen.
The shooting took place a day before the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix, a considerable time constraint on Max Verstappen’s filming time. Still, Eiji took advantage of this disadvantage and turned it into a brilliant idea. As a result, the CIVIC TYPE R shines out, making Max unable to help himself get hooked on driving it.
Eiji also paid particular attention to the use of music. Amilcare Ponchielli’s ‘Dance of the Hours’ sets an esprit, cinematic tone, and is intended to convey the nuances of ‘Max Verstappen gets on that wheel of the CIVIC TYPE R whenever he has time”.
“Under the restriction of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is the first global production for me in two and a half years. In the scorching heat of Budapest in 2022, we experienced various difficulties, like equipment problems. However, I would say the outcome is as hot as the Budapest heat!”. Eiji looks back. “I respect the whole team for getting things done, no matter what”.

TOKYO lives and breathes variety. Our people defy convention and our work is often hard to categorise. We blur the lines between real-world interactive experiences, TV commercials, music videos and web movies.
Talent is people. Here at TOKYO, we never forget that. We help those people to sharpen their edge and then pair them up with projects that they can work their creative magic on. This means our staff are just as likely to be working on a cutting-edge passion project as they are to be adding a fresh twist to a more mainstream campaign.
TOKYO has a balance of youth and wisdom. Although TOKYO has been on the scene for five years, we are able to draw on fifty years of industry experience via our parent company Taiyo Kikaku. This has allowed us to rack up numerous awards across the creative spectrum, both at home and internationally.
