As part of the global celebration for Ninjago's 10th Anniversary across LEGOLAND Parks and Lego Discovery Centers, Wildlife was asked to create an interactive, AR experience that lets fans Be Ninja, alongside their favorite Ninjago characters in an eye-catching exhibit.
We developed a webAR powered activation that allows fans to scan 6 different custom murals to activate an accompanying Ninjago hero. Each backdrop represents a different virtue, and offers a unique challenge for visitors to attempt while they record their actions. Fans who complete all six challenges alongside the Ninjago characters earn a limited edition golden coin to take home as their exclusive souvenir and come away with a unique digital video to share on social.
Fans enter the large Ninjago installation and scan the QR code displayed to join the quest.
Once scanned, the mobile web experience launches on their browser. A quick introduction sets up the story and the quest for the missing pieces of Master Wu's Golden Amulet. Fans can step through the different virtue areas and scan each of the six distinct backdrops using their device's camera to bring the Ninjago heroes to life in AR.
To help get the word out about this limited time experience, our team created an animated promo to tell the story of Master Wu's Golden Amulet and the evil Lord Garmadon.
Using the high-resolution versions of the same character models in our AR experience, we leveraged illustrative backgrounds to bring a storybook style to the legend of the missing fragments. Stylized particle effects and a mythic voiceover amplified the experience and provided an asset to each location across the globe to highlight the experience and bring excited fans into the park to celebrate Ninjago.
