When Ocado Group came to us, they were already at the forefront of the online grocery industry, boasting robotically-operated fulfillment centers and data optimization on an unprecedented scale. They were ready to step onto the global stage, with a 60 minute launch event that would kick off a step-change for the entire sector. With international investors, partners, and press all waiting, our job was to present not only Ocado Group’s next-gen services, but the gutsy, pioneering spirit in the brand’s DNA.
We reimagined their branding, pushing it into a tech-forward, futuristic aesthetic - successfully pivoting their narrative away from grocery delivery, and into the tech space. Although these game-changing innovations were in pre-production, and not yet live in their facilities, we found a way to convey their remarkable scope through an accessible series of compelling launch videos, showcased during a one-hour hybrid event that was broadcast to a global audience with live translations for international markets.
Ocado Group’s innovations are revolutionary for the industry, and our video content utilized a clever combination of live capture and motion graphics to communicate the magnitude of this impact - leveraging informative illustration, animation, and authentic, authoritative scripting to ensure the content felt relatable, and ultimately, human.
We crafted a cinematic aesthetic that would highlight their products to create suspense and emotional intrigue, and coupled it with stylized technical animations that explained the functionality and process. Through film, we were able to show not only the beauty of their unconventional robots, but the millimeter-level precision that needs to be seen to be believed. Motion graphics helped bring the conceptual, intangible innovations in machine learning and data processing down to earth, all while looking impossibly sleek. It was a new level of polish and presentation for Ocado Group.
The elevated aesthetic poised viewers to shift their perspective on not only what Ocado Group can do, but who they are. The results spoke for themselves, with Ocado Group shares jumping 5.5%, and glowing headlines from the biggest media outlets, from Bloomberg to Reuters to CNBC. It was a phenomenal result that came from an impressive client who trusted us to be stewards of their biggest moment.
