Freightliner is the UK’s largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, moving goods from port straight to customer via road or rail as well as being the leading UK container logistics services provider.

To stand out from the crowd and demonstrate their unique offering at Multimodal, the UK and Ireland’s premier freight transport, logistics and supply chain management event.

The client
A subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W), Freightliner is the UK’s largest maritime intermodal logistics operator and leading UK container logistics services provider. Globally, G&W owns or leases 116 freight railroads worldwide, with 8,000 employees servicing 3,000 customers.

The challenge
The Multimodal event at the NEC in Birmingham brings together high profile logistics firms with importers, exporters, retailers and manufacturers across the UK and Northern Europe.

Freightliner haven’t exhibited at this type of event for several years and wanted to really stand out from the crowd, whilst demonstrating their unique offering within the world of logistics.

The intelligence
Our environments team worked with senior leadership and the communications team at Freightliner to identify their priorities. They wanted to highlight their USP in a compelling way, emphasising the fact that they can provide an end to end logistics solution for customers.

The experience also needed to feel hospitable, comfortable and encourage new and existing clients to linger and network.

The solution
Our design had a contemporary feel and used Freightliner’s brand colours. We also incorporated three shipping containers into our structure. The containers gave the space a real sense of scale and helped tie our messaging back to Freightliner’s work. The largest of the three containers housed lightbox graphics explaining the journey taken by freight on its way from a port to its final destination. Other graphics told the story of the firm’s journey to net zero.

The other two containers were double stacked, with the lower floor turned into a café and seating area, while the upper level was transformed into a VIP meeting room. We also created a welcoming outdoor space with bar stools, planters and a ‘courtyard feel’ to encourage people to linger and network.
