Attracting donors to the survivors of torture and trafficking charity
Challenge: The Helen Bamber Foundation is a Human Rights charity supporting refugees and asylum seekers who are survivors of trafficking and torture. The charity market is crowded and the battle for donors and investors is intense. They needed a campaign that would cut-through and be instantly memorable. And capture what they do - an enormously complex array of services - in one single idea.
Solution: The stories of the victims of trafficking and torture can be so horrific as to be unwatchable. We wanted to show what the Foundation does in a way that can be easily understood, viewers would be comfortable sharing and offers hope. Hand-crafted over a year, and voiced by Dame Emma Thompson, the film uses the metaphor of a broken bird (based on the brand’s icon) to show how with the Foundation’s help, recovery is possible.
Outcome: The campaign - hero film and social assets - launched recently and will run for the foreseeable future. The film is a major cornerstone of the rebrand, which is intended to give the brand a creative identity for 5-10 years.
Across the Pond started life inside Google over ten years ago when Julie, our founder, spotted an opportunity. Video content and all its possibilities were about to explode. As a TV producer equipped with razor sharp story-telling skills, she was uniquely placed to help Google capitalise.
And so ‘Across the Pond’ was born. Now we shape strategic narratives and campaigns for tech brands around the world.
We are driven by a profound belief in the benefits that technology can bring to humankind.
We are proud to be part of the 0.1%: the percentage of agencies founded by women. To us this is more than just a statistic, it’s in our DNA. Embedded deep within our culture is a disregard for barriers, a sense of possibility, and a burning optimism.
We believe the work we do, and how we do it, can create a better world.
