Yuga Labs - Mega Mutant

​​Modern Logic was asked to help kick off Apefest 22 in New York with a cinematic introduction to their newest Mega Mutant, to be revealed for the first time at the event. Assembling a team of 2D cel animators and Illustrators, we dove in straight away.

The 2D team used various toolsets for the illustrations and animation including Photoshop, Animate, Toonboom and Clip Studio. We decided to employ an experimental approach for the background environments.

Turning to AI, the team generated assets and elements to be compiled and used as a base for the background designs. These designs were then turned over to our illustration team to integrate into the design language. The artists were able to work off the AI generated backgrounds, both saving time, finding inspiration and ultimately elevating the aesthetic of the piece.​
