Be The Fox was tasked to produce 3 episodic social promo films around the Beauty sector, advertising the different ways Square helped independent Beauty Business Owners succeed and overcome challenges. Each episode is hosted by Sali Hughes, journalist, writer, broadcaster and resident beauty columnist for The Guardian.
Square is a tech company and was the first in the world to release a card reader used in conjunction with a mobile app in 2017. Connecting with a phone or tablet via Bluetooth, the Square Reader processes payments through an accompanying app and works with iPads, iPhones and Android tablets and smartphones. Having added multiple features and new hardware for different working sectors, square is a one-stop solution for any business.
Wanting to spotlight the Beauty industry and how Square tools and applications help these businesses thrive, we produced 3 episodic films, interviewing 3 thriving Beauty Business Owners in-situ in their own beauty salon. Talking about their earnest beginnings first, each episode moves into how Square enabled them to grow and upgrade their business, and what’s next as they look towards the future.
Each film was shot in a relaxed and personal setting, using warm and soft colours. The episodes were filmed on a Canon C500 Mkii full-frame cinema camera with a set of prime lenses and cinema zooms, to ensure the look is high end with the ability to capture close ups with shallow depth of field, and provide beautifully detailed shots for our split screen graphics. With the final format of 9x16 (portrait in mind), the camera was put on a vertical axis to ensure the content was captured to guide the editing process.
