Introducing More Women and Girls to the Grassroots Game
To support BT’s ambition toincrease female in participation in UK grassroots football through the BTPlaymaker online volunteer course, we produced a BT Sport mini-series that followed a group of young womenwho love football but have all faced personal challenges in their lives asthey become BT Playmakers.
We told their stories, connected them with theirheroes, the Lionesses, and watched them rise from troubled teens to confidentleaders on and off the pitch. The activity aimed to increase female BTPlaymaker enrolments. We also created social cutdowns to sit across England, BT/ BT Sport channels, as well as presenter Chelcee Grimes’ channels.
Since launching Watch Us Rise, 53% of sign ups have been female, up from 10% before the activity.
