Under the EU legislation, automakers must equip any electric vehicle with an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS). This system emits warning noises when the car is moving at a slow speed. This was a unique challenge and incredible creative opportunity for Syn Tokyo. Syn was responsible for creating a Sonic identity that served both legal and practical purposes whilst bringing the brand to life through sound and resonating with consumers beyond the image of the car. Featuring the organic talent of Syn’s voice artist Rudi Rok (based in Finland) and Milan based Red Rose Productions, together this international team of collaborators created the engine sound design for this timeless car: a bold sonic union of the human voice combined with the timeless melody of “Amarcord” by Nino Rota, marrying the innovative & the organic. Man and machine in perfect harmony.
