We made a campaign to show the inner strength, patience and resilience of disabled people. The film launches a broader through-the-line campaign that delivers strategy, campaign concept, creative execution, distribution and media.
Most of us take our independence for granted. The freedom to choose how we live, work and learn. Every choice we make, from what we'll have for dinner to going out for a coffee or taking the bus into town, these things all seem so simple and even insignificant.
But, 1 in 5 of us acquire a disability at some point in our lives. So what do we do when these things all of a sudden become terribly challenging? When they acquire much more significance?
We worked with Leonard Cheshire to show how difficult this change can be; Journey to Independence is an 80-second film which highlights the life-changing impact of disability on the 8 out of 10 people who are not born with it.
Don't Panic Senior Creative George McCallum said of the campaign that it captures the 'hard, painful, yet empowering story of one disabled man'.
We worked hard to capture Leonard Cheshire's renewed purpose of showing the strength of disabled people rather than their weaknesses. The campaign is a positive, proud and pioneering exploration of how inspiring disabled people are.
