Inspired by the much-loved animated film The Snowman and The Snowdog, the sequel to Raymond Brigg’s classic picture book The Snowman, Ashford’s Snowdog trail celebrated the film’s themes of life, love, loss, friendship, companionship, strength and kindness.
A year in the planning, local businesses, artists and school children (all in on the secret) joined together to create a trail of unique snowdogs, bringing together the community and helping to raise valuable funds and awareness for Pilgrims Hospices.
The project is a large-scale public art trail consisting of over 30 Snowdog sculptures placed around the Ashford community for 10 weeks. Our role was to develop and deliver an engaging way to effectively promote the sculpture trail. The resulting social media campaign and activity generated outstanding results and participation among the local community.
The success of the campaign was recognised through the achievement of the Creative/Digital Award in the Ashford Business Awards 2018.
“Working with Realia on the social media presence and platforms for Snowdogs Discover Ashford has been a key ingredient of the success of the project so far. As a Council-led initiative, we knew what we wanted our profile to look like, and knew it needed a passionate and dedicated team to help us drive this forward. Realia is this team, and we are pleased to say that not only are they delivering against the brief, they are getting personally involved, and therefore the project is receiving many more unexpected positive outcomes”.
