Force Field, in collaboration with Oculus Studios, released a unique new VR experience for the Samsung Gear VR in which you travel back in time to meet one of the world’s most iconic artists: Rembrandt van Rijn.
When putting on the Gear VR headset the user finds himself in 17th century Amsterdam, a stunning scenic environment and home of the Dutch master painter. The experience places you right in the middle of key events in the life of Rembrandt. Including the creation of one of the most valuable paintings of all time: “The Night Watch”.
Oculus, the manufacturer of VR headsets ‘Rift’ for PC and ‘Gear VR’ for Samsung mobile phones, asked the Amsterdam based VR studio ‘Force Field’ to develop an experience which shows how incredible lifelike VR can look on a mobile device. By merging live actors with computer generated environments through state of the art VR technology, the studio created a spectacular historical journey. Amp.Amsterdam composed the music and spatialized the sound design to make the experience even more immersive.
The experience stars Dutch TV and theatre actor, Reinout Bussemaker as Rembrandt and Derek de Lint, (Poltergeist the Legacy) as Jakob, one of the militia men portrayed in Rembrandt’s famous ‘Night Watch’ painting.
“Meeting Rembrandt: Master of Reality” can be downloaded from the Oculus Gear VR store.
