Scottish Water provides drinking water to 2.46 million households across Scotland, supplying 1.34 billion litres each day. We wanted to provide some solid animation to live up to its great work! We worked with Axis Animation on three television commercials, which continued in a style that was developed in previous Scottish Water TVCs: featuring a smooth transition from full-frame animation to images rotating around a 3D machine. The machine is symbolic of Scottish Waters’ passion for continuous, seamless production. We share that passion. Each commercial took four weeks or less to complete. We managed to take a somewhat convoluted animation workflow - which involved more types of software than was necessary - and streamlined the process. Axis Animation came to us because they were seeking a studio that could execute the different disciplines of hand-drawn frame animation, 3D and technical compositing, all under one roof.
