Vibrant partnered with Teneo Ireland and Irish Distillers Limited to craft an evocative set of video assets to commemorate the release of Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Chapter 6. This cinematic short marks the sixth and final chapter in a 200-year old story, delivering a stunning audiovisual farewell to the legendary distillery.
"The Last Drops", a 52 second hero film supported by a series of short-form assets draws inspiration from the elemental themes of the past releases - water, fire, earth, and wood - while embracing abstraction and symbolism to express the whiskey’s extraordinary rarity.
Shot across custom miniatures, studio sets, scenic Irish landscapes, and in the iconic Midleton distillery itself, the film uses macro textures and surreal visual metaphors to explore the Silent Distillery’s storied history. Drops of the precious liquid floating away represent the rarity of the last drops reminiscent of the ‘angel’s share’, while shafts of illumination single out the final cask in a symbolic act of reverence.
“We were honoured to be asked to create a video piece for this momentous occasion. As we always do for Midleton Very Rare, we approached the shoot as if it was a passion project. We wanted it to be emotive, we wanted it to be cinematic, we wanted it to look as rare and timeless as Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery's final release.” said Kevin Goss Ross, Director at Vibrant.
The project required an ambitious blend of traditional filmmaking, practical effects, and CG/VFX to achieve its look. The team utilised custom-built miniature landscapes, motion-control camera systems, and a series of rigs manufactured in-house to craft an ever shifting dreamscape that mirrors the emotional weight of the final release.
