Calgary is a vibrant city full of open minds and boundless ambition. It’s ranked as one of the best cities in the world to live in. It’s the epitome of endless potential. But the city brand didn’t reflect how Calgarians feel about their city. 60% of citizens said it didn’t resonate with them. We needed a new city brand that captured who Calgary is, not what Calgary was.
‘Blue Sky City’ speaks to three key truths: Calgary has more sunny days than any other city in North America, it is a place of unexpected possibilities, and it is a place where everyone deserves to belong. Our visual language was inspired by Indigenous beadwork and our flexible system was designed to be adopted by multiple partners.
