Wunderman New York president Jamie Gallo announced today the appointment of Toni Hess as chief creative officer. Hess brings to Wunderman 15 years of leadership creating award-winning global campaigns for some of the world’s most prominent brands. The appointment is effective immediately.
Hess is charged with overseeing the development of a creative team skilled at marrying sophisticated data and consumer insights to deliver actionable creative executions for Wunderman clients, including Coca-Cola, Citibank, Best Buy, United Airlines and Land Rover. In addition, Hess will also play a central role in the new business function.
Beyond her New York office responsibilities, Hess will join Wunderman's global creative leadership team and network, led by global creative director Lincoln Bjorkman.
Commenting on the move, Gallo said, “Toni has the skills to lead and innovate at a data-driven creative company. She is a force that will drive our agency, as well as be a great partner to our clients.”
Hess joins directly from Goodly, the New York-based agency she founded, which supported clients including Bed Bath & Beyond. Prior to that, she served as executive creative director/partner at Rosetta. Hess spent the bulk of her career honing her craft at FCB, JWT and Publicis.
“I am looking forward to creating smart, progressive work that showcases how potent a combination data insights and creativity can be,” said Hess. “Both Jamie (Gallo) and Nelson Freitas are great collaborators and have assembled a formidable team.
Wunderman shares a personal passion of mine: to help expose young women to all the opportunities and varied careers available to them in our industry. To help them grow, learn and develop the self-confidence required to become future leaders.”
In her spare time, Hess serves as a director of AdCamps at the Lower Eastside Girls Club providing young women their first glimpse into the advertising industry. Hess will play an active part in Women@Wunderman, the agency’s global initiative to hire and support women.
