Most of the world watched with relief this week as the USA inaugurated a president that won’t be quite such an embarrassment to the West’s most prominent democracy. Thankfully the event went off without a repeat of the violence Washington DC saw two weeks ago. But the new president hasn’t been the main focus of the discussion this week. Firstly, Bernie Sanders has become a meme again and has been bringing some straightforward levity to the internet for the past few days with his adorable coat, mittens and relatable grumpy demeanour.
But more seriously, much of the world’s attention was on the momentous event of Kamala Harris becoming vice president in a significant crop of firsts: She is the United States' first female vice president, the highest-ranking female elected official in US history, and the first African American and first Asian American vice president. The inspirational moment is captured in two of the best creative projects we saw this week. Besides that, there’s been a really varied crop of great creativity.
