Online filmmaking community My First Job In Film has teamed up with VFX giant Framestore to offer one aspiring VFX artist two weeks work experience at their London studios. Framestore are the global VFX talent behind the most visually and technically stunning films in recent years; including Gravity, Fantastic Beasts and Marvel's Dr Strange and they are offering the winner the chance to spend time learning from and being mentored by their team.
The competition is hosted by My First Job In Film, the UK’s largest online community of aspiring filmmakers. The platform relaunched itself in January this year and has become the go-to resource for young filmmaking talent looking to take their first steps in the industry.
As well as promoting the latest job opportunities available in the sector, the site offers a wealth of career resources including in-depth career guides, CV advice, a screening room that showcases members work and competitions.
Georgie McGahey, My First Job In Film’s community & content manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Framestore on this competition. My First Job In Film is all about connecting future filmmakers, including VFX artists, with opportunities to use their creative talent in place of a CV. Framestore is committed to fostering new talent from the ground up too, so it made total sense for us to work together to offer someone the chance to get this invaluable experience.”
Entries will be judged by the recruitment team at Framestore and the lucky winner will get to shadow the running team at the multi award-winning studio. They will get to to sit-in on dailies and get a good understanding of how a VFX studio is involved in the filmmaking process, as well as come away from the experience with a valuable addition to their CV.
To enter, applicants need to submit a VFX showreel, less than two minutes in length, by Monday 15th May via the My First Job In Film website.
