The rumours are true! William Shatner did indeed appear as a hologram during Advertising Week APAC

Last week, the man who popularised the science fiction concept of beaming to new worlds, actor and director William Shatner, was beamed into Advertising Week APAC 2023 in Sydney’s iconic Luna Park, using Proto Hologram technology. Mr. Shatner was beamed in from Los Angeles to the Great Minds stage on the second day of Advertising Week APAC to discuss the latest on technology, innovation and our planet in a session hosted by Catherine Bowe from Meta in APAC.

Proto’s distributor in Australia, TeleIn, produced the Sydney side of the live beam, with Mr. Shatner able to see and hear the audience and respond in real time from across the globe – just as if he was in the room. Proto is the original self-contained hologram device and the platform that makes holoportation a reality. The company has offices on five continents, and beams executives, artists, athletes, teachers and doctors around the globe on a regular basis.

Catherine Bowe from Meta in APAC hosted the discussion with William Shatner via Proto Hologram, commenting on the experience, “This technology is very impressive. It felt like William was in the room with us and the high definition provided so much depth and perspective. The audio was crisp and the audience was so engaged. Throughout our discussion, William's passion for space, technology, and the environment shone through. In particular William called on the advertising experts in the room, to use their spheres of influence to do what is right and make more investment in technology which can help save our planet. I believe his call for responsible action and the recognition of Earth's irreplaceable beauty left a lasting impact on the audience at Advertising Week APAC, which was wonderful to see.”
