Global Street Art, Grand Visual, Talon, Goodstuff and Brave Spark collaborate on media first concrete canvas in the heart of Hackney

A partnership between leading UK mural painting company, Global Street Art, OOH agency Talon, media agency Goodstuff, OOH creative production agency Grand Visual, creative studio Brave Spark and consumer champion Which? has resulted in the unveiling of one of London's largest QR code displays at 100 Mare Street. This colossal artwork, hand-painted for the first time on one of London's largest canvases, measures an impressive 199 square metres. The temporary installation will grace the wall for four weeks, while also offering future opportunities for commercial painted works.

This collaboration required meticulous precision on what is often considered a very digital medium – the QR code – carefully hand-painted using traditional techniques by a team of talented local artists from Global Street Art, celebrating the rich artistic heritage that Hackney is renowned for and the ways in which human-led handicraft can be centred in the digital age.

Strategically situated just a stone's throw away from Broadway Market, widely recognised as "one of London's coolest streets" according to Time Out magazine, the 100 Mare Street wall now stands as a new beacon of artistic expression in the heart of the city. Hackney's Mare Street is a bustling hub brimming with creativity, culture, and an unmistakable charm.

The colossal QR code at 100 Mare Street is an interactive artwork that allows visitors to access contextually relevant digital content by scanning it with their smartphones. By blending traditional art forms with cutting-edge technology, this installation invites viewers to explore a unique fusion of creativity and digital connectivity.

This collaboration between Global Street Art, Talon, Grand Visual, Goodstuff, Brave Spark and Which? represents a shared vision to promote local talent, inspire artistic innovation, and provide a contextually relevant and engaging experience for the community. Together, they have transformed a blank canvas into a monumental work of art that captivates the imagination of passers-by and visitors to Hackney alike.

"We are happy to unveil London's largest QR code at 100 Mare Street," said Lee Bofkin, CEO and co-founder of Global Street Art. "This collaboration launches a space that our incredibly talented team of local artists will be painting again in future. We’re proud that Which? have chosen to help launch this wall with an artwork that left no room for error!"

The installation at 100 Mare Street is now open and the wall is available for future commercial painted works in four weeks’ time. Don't miss the opportunity to witness the marriage of traditional street art and digital connectivity, all within the vibrant surroundings of Hackney.
