Creative content agency Wellcom has promoted general manager Marnie Darren to ANZ managing director of Wellcom worldwide.
The change at the top for Wellcom follows Natalie Smith’s appointment as director of strategy in November. Previously, Marnie was a managing partner for Star Entertainment Group, and was group business director for TBWA.
Marnie told LBB that she is proud to take on the new role.
“I’ve seen firsthand how the traditional agency model — divided between creative and production — struggles to meet today’s demands for speed, personalisation, and measurable performance," Marnie said.
"That’s why I’m proud to take on this new role. To champion our Reconvergence model. By combining the strengths of our brands with automation and smart technology, we’re building a more agile, efficient, and scalable approach.
"This isn’t just evolution -- it’s a fundamental shift that plays directly to Wellcom’s strengths and sets us up to lead in a fast-changing, performance-driven world.”
Wellcom originated in Australia over 20 years ago, and has since built a strong legacy as an advertising production company.
Speaking to LBB in 2024, Wellcom’s global CEO, David Bridges, said the company always looks for opportunities to hire the best talent in the industry to strengthen their offering.
“At Wellcom we are always thinking about what's next to anticipate the industry trends and market opportunities to strengthen our offering in support of our client,” David said.
“Whether through acquisition, strategic partnerships, or hiring the best talent in the industry, we're constantly looking to improve and offer clients a more seamless and productive experience.”
Marnie also noted that the Wellcom team has transformed in recent years, as the business has evolved into a future-focussed creative production agency.
“Creative, production, and technology often exist in their own isolated environments,” Marnie said, “The world we live in is moving forward, and this antiquated model needs to move with it.
“We have a unique advantage because our creative teams instinctively understand the entire campaign production process.
“They concept and design for efficiency and the greatest possible output, on time, with minimum hassle, while maintaining high quality. Two speciality areas of our business, one great outcome."
Wellcom is best known in Australia for its work with Stanley.
