I have been in this industry for 35 years and I feel that over the last 10 to 15 years that the change has been huge. But often, that change is happening in isolation, with marketers, agencies and production/makers not aware of the new challenges and opportunities within each others' part of the marketing world.
So, on Wednesday October 23rd, Little Black Book will
host an event in London (that we eventually hope to roll out in multiple markets) that we’re really excited about. We’re arranging a day of learning, meeting and discussing the business of advertising - with a focus on how we work together in the industry AND how we make things together. We will talk about how the industry is evolving with brands, agencies (including in-house agencies at brands) producers and more.
So, why are we doing this?
Our belief is that there simply isn’t enough open discussion between the various segments of the business. At LBB we work with networks, indie agencies, advertisers, production companies, post production houses, music companies and more. We are witnessing many of these businesses talking fearfully of the changes in our industry without perhaps understanding why it’s happening and how to work with the change. So, we want to bring that to the forefront and offer people the solutions they need. Quite obviously, change is happening in every market (at different speeds) and this change is affecting the way we all work together - it affects price, pitching and perhaps the quality of creative.
There is more advertising and marketing content being made than ever before but there is a need for ‘different’ content now. And that requires different ways of making that content and who makes it. We will get people talking about that and the difference, perhaps, between hero and halo content.
There is a lot to unpack here. So, we have brought together specialists from every market sector to inform the local industry on what is happening. If you work in the business of advertising, marketing or production this will be an absolute must attend event. There will be panels and open discussion all day and we’ll round off with the opportunity to discuss everything further with some networking and drinks.
We will open with bare facts and paint a picture of the shape of the industry with The Advertising Association and WARC, and then hear from big brands, makers and others. (See

The idea of this event really is totally pure. We want to get advertisers, agencies and makers together to talk about what they are doing in this time of change and how they are progressing/evolving and working together.
