Channel 4 today reveals the TV marketing campaign for The Great British Bake Off in celebration of the eighth series of the nation’s favourite baking show, returning to screens this autumn.
The 60-second long film will launch on Channel 4 at approximately 8.30pm on Thursday 3rd August 2017, during half time of the Women’s Euros 2017 semi-final when England take on host nation the Netherlands.
The ‘bake-mation’ represents the first time an entire ad has been animated using baked products. It takes viewers on a British themed baking journey; from the breaking of an egg, the mixing, kneading and baking of ingredients to the final assembly of a delicious show-stopper.
A cast of 335 baked characters were created using 500 eggs, 28kg of sugar and 50 kg of flour before they were brought to life as animated personalities, through the skill of baking.
The campaign was commissioned by Channel 4 Marketing, written by the broadcaster’s award-winning in house creative agency 4Creative and directed by Parabella through Blinkink. Full credits below.
Dan Brooke, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Channel 4 said: “What better way of launching the nation’s favourite baking show than baking an ad especially for it.”
