French agency W&Cie have created ‘Le Souffle’ or ‘Breath’, to promote the 20th anniversary of ‘Domestic Violence Information’ helpline. The campaign is supported by the PPR Foundation for Women’s Dignity and Rights. Directed by Wanda’s Wilfrid Brimo, the spot combines phantom camera, powerful performances and an original track by Clive Mansell to convey a powerful message.
Each year, teams at W&Cie volunteer their time and creativity to support a cause they feel strongly about. This year for 25 November ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’, the agency decided to promote 3919, the ‘Domestic Violence Information’ helpline number. This number plays an important role in France; currently one out of ten women is the victim of domestic violence and one woman dies every two and half days from the blows inflicted by her partner.
This number allows people in this situation to talk to someone about the problem. The film is based on a simple idea: breath – the breath of air that gives us the strength to reject violence.
The volume of 3919 calls increases significantly following publicity campaigns against domestic violence. The film will be broadcast on TF1, France Télévision Canal + and online, and from November 19 has been screened during half-time at sports stadia across France.
