VaynerMedia, the most contemporary global creative and media agency, has appointed Chan Woei Hern as its new head of creative for the Asia Pacific region. Woei Hern joins the booming Asia Pacific team which has grown to more than 250 employees within three years of operations in the region. An industry pioneer with extensive experience across consumer segments, Woei Hern’s appointment further strengthens VaynerMedia’s credentials as an integrated consumer-centric agency. He succeeds VJ Anand, who recently took on a global and EMEA creative mandate, based at the agency’s London office.
Woei Hern brings over two decades of experience in the advertising world across the creative, media, content and film segments. From building a four person unit into one of Malaysia’s top agencies to leading numerous creative teams to national and international recognition (including three successive Agency of the Year wins at the Malaysia Effie Awards), Woei Hern is irrefutably a seasoned creative and people leader.
“When we started looking for VJ’s successor in APAC, we knew we had some big shoes to fill. Woei Hern’s name was on top of our dream list. His excitement for our attention-first model, his curiosity across platforms, and his passion to develop great people make us even more excited about the next phase of our growth,” said Tim Lindley, managing director, VaynerMedia Asia Pacific. “Woei Hern is an exceptional creative talent, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the team,” he added.
“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some amazing people at VaynerMedia,” said Chan Woei Hern. “The empathy and the energy of everyone I’ve met were really inspiring and infectious, to say the least. Every chat was something that stayed in my head and heart. I can’t wait to see what an amazing adventure this will be to bring the culture to life through the work we do together as a team.”
