Copenhagen music and sound company Upright Music has provided the soundtrack to the latest campaign for Dynaudio.
The initial starting point for this project for Upright was when the director, Rasmus Pilgaard, got in touch in the start-up phase of the project saying he needed some musical input. He sent a very short brief with a link to a YouTube video of a fantastic dancer, Marie Poppins, who they had booked to dance on the project.
The shoot was going to take place at Selsø castle, a very beautiful, classic location in Denmark, so he would open the film with the illusion that the dancer is also a classical dancer. The music should also illustrate this opening with some violin or strings. After that, the music should change to something super-modern and top nice sound. Something with nice rhythmic elements suited for dancing in the dancer's style. They wanted to pick out the track first, so the dancer could dance to it at the location.
Thus the starting point of the research was to look for something modern, electronic, rhythmic with a slight touch of classic strings that would fit her dancing style as well as the location and general idea of the project.
The director then picked out one of Upright Music's suggested tracks, and then had one of Denmark's finest DJ's, DJ Static, remix it to fit it perfectly with the pictures.
