If you happened to be walking towards the cricket ground of Sydney University on the 8th February 2024, you would have been greeted with pumping music and excited cheers.
The 10th UnLtd Big Clash saw a parade of matching yellow hats in the grandstands, as spectators watched their colleagues bowl and bat in the hopes of getting their hands on the coveted trophy.
This event sees teams from all over the industry including tech, creative, media owners and media agencies join forces and compete all in the name of supporting charities helping children and young people at risk.
Since starting the event 10 years ago, the UnLtd team has raised over 1.1 million dollars. But according to Chris Freel, outgoing CEO of UnLtd, the Big Clash is more than a fundraiser. “Big Clash is more than just the money raised, it’s also about bringing our industry together and connecting with each other which is more important now than ever”, he says.
All the players tore into the game with outstanding spirit and sportsmanship, including APAC reporter Tom Louden representing Little Black Book in the men’s creative team.
The team captains for this year included the likes of Kellyn Coetzee from IPG, Nicole Bence from Nova, Kathryn Furnari from Innocean, Fiona Roberts from MiQ, Matthew Coote from Snapchat, Alex Hayes from ClearHayes, Alex Williams from PHD, and Ben White from JCDecaux.
Over the past 10 years of the Big Clash journey, a fiercely competitive rivalry between media agencies and media owners has formed. Media agencies have so far secured 17 wins, with media owners following closely with a total of 16 wins.
This year, the media agencies won both the womens and mens final matches. The next Big Clash tournament will be in Melbourne on 22nd February, followed by Auckland, Brisbane and Adelaide.
