This Short Film Adds New Layers to the Work of Pianist Joep Beving

Czar Amsterdam’s Michaël I. Sewandono has released a short film in collaboration with acclaimed Dutch composer and pianist Joep Beving. The short film is the first release of a series of three new visual pieces – one short film and two music videos. 

This new short film follows the fractured narrative of multiple characters, unaware they are mimicking each other across time and space, yet they share an inner voice and an innate knowledge that people are said to possess. In Joep’s life, as in his music, he seeks to establish deeper connections between those he describes as ‘wondering souls’. This film adds new layers to Joep’s work and complements the richness of the sonic world he has created.

Michaël Sewandono is an autonomous film director and artist who has written and directed numerous short films, music videos and has exhibited his art in prestigious institutions and film festivals all over the world. Michaël wanted to create something that connects with the idea of something larger, that we are all part of a constant movement where nothing endures. 

The final two music video pieces of the series will be released over the following fortnight.
