A hard-hitting, new documentary launches today in Milan through McCann Health Italy, with the patronage of Anlaids Lombardia ETS the National Association for the fight against AIDS; funded by grants from Viatris and Control.
Titled PrEPARED – True Protection, True Freedom, the 45 minute film which is being previewed in Milan at Cinema Mexico this week, will be available to view on preparati-hiv.it, and is the first documentary that investigates sexual habits in Italy, proving that great protection gives greater freedom.
Directed by Andrea Pecora PrEPARED is designed to raise awareness of the importance of HIV prevention, with pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and other protection methods. The documentary, shot on film, is divided into eight chapters, with real-life people and couples adding authenticity to eight different stories giving each story a warm, cinematic flavour.
In each chapter the topic 'sexual freedom' is shown and told from a unique and intimate point of view of the protagonist, and it is always the pretext to talk not only about freedom, but also about protection. The result is an artistic, filmic portrait of sexual habits which celebrates sexual freedom but most of all has the power of reinforcing the inseparable bond between sex and protection.
Fabio Teodori, chief creative officer of McCann Health Italy says, “In a country where it is not easy to talk about sex and therefore prevention yet, we have managed to produce an engaging film, with an artistic and also sociological value, and which above all is capable of spreading a true knowledge of protection.”
PrEPARATI is a serial docufilm, a multi-phase communication project that launched last year. This new film investigates sexual habits of Italians in 2021, without taboos, prejudices or voyeurism and finally shedding a light on the main risk: unprotected sex.
In 2021, 1.5 million people globally were diagnosis with HIV, mainly due to unprotected sex. (Source: Unaids)
