Urbanears is putting sweat up for sale with headphones drenched in the sweat of inspiring movement-makers from fashion, music, and sport— all aiming to put the beauty of sweat in the spotlight.
The Limited Sweat Edition is made in collaboration with seven stand-out individuals from music, sport, and fashion, who’ve each been given their own Hellas headphones from the Urbanears Active collection to wear during the workout of their choice.
Three of these special editions were created by running coach Knox Robinson, dancer ‘WilldaBeast’ Adams, and musician Amanda Bergman, who can be seen sweating it out in the Mojave Desert in a short film available at www.urbanears.com/sweat.
"There's a crucial connection between music and running. The two don't rely on each other per se but when combined in the right way the results can be amazing,” says Knox Robinson.
Also putting their sweat-soaked headphones up for sale are British singer V V Brown, American model Barbie Ferreira, German fashionista Bonnie Strange, and French DJ and entrepreneur Nadege Winter.
Each pair of Hellas headphones is sealed in a bag post-workout, signed and labeled with the details of the sweat-session. Buyers are given the choice to either keep the headphones as a collectors item, or pop open the bag and put them back into use— which isn’t as disgusting as it sounds thanks to Hellas’ washable headband and ear cushions.
”The Limited Sweat Edition is about really going for it in whatever activity you choose. Teaming up with these creative individuals who also happen to enjoy breaking a sweat makes perfect sense for us.” says Sofia Hjelm, brand manager at Urbanears.
"We wanted to create something that wasn’t just about the athletic elite. Everyone sweats - no matter the level of fitness - which makes it an excellent tool to compare the intensity of a workout that is fair to all." adds Philip Arvidson, Creative Lead at Perfect Fools.
"The headphones come with washable parts, and thanks to this feature they will always be good as new no matter the work-out. This sparked an idea of launching a line of used headphones with actual sweat. The tension between the concept of ‘limited edition’ and ‘second-hand’ makes for a fun contrast. And to make it more interesting (and less yucky for some reason), we decided to use the sweat of famous individuals, turning the headphones into collectables."
On May 27 the first Limited Sweat Edition headphones went on sale, online at urbanears.com/sweat. Additional pairs will be released at regular intervals in the weeks to follow.
