A pair of gremlin-y eyes peering out of the darkness – and that’s all we’re getting as John Lewis seems to tease it’s 2017 Christmas campaign, likely to drop this week.
Trailing on social media with the hashtag #UnderTheBed, the ten second video appears to confirm rumours that this year’s festive push will star some sort of monster.
The agency, as ever, is adam&eveDDB and the spot has allegedly been directed by Michel Gondry, best known for movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as well as legendary music videos for the likes of Chemical Brothers and Bjork.
But while there’s not loads to go on, someone who has been commenting is the other John Lewis, the unfortunate American owner of the Twitter handle @johnlewis (often confused with @johnlewisretail), who finds himself inundated with well-meaning but misguided tweets every year. The resident of Virginia, who describes himself as ‘Computer science educator, father of four, social liberal, atheist, and not a retail store’.
