Los Angeles-based
Therapy has signed multi-disciplinary editor Lenny Mesina. Prior to joining Therapy, Mesina has been turning out inspired and award-winning editorial work for Motion Theory/Mirada, in addition to cutting two renowned feature documentaries. He has edited music videos for recording artist giants such as Green Day, Adele, Common and Blink 182, cut content and installation projects such as IBM ‘
THINK’ - which was on view at Lincoln Centre and took home awards at the 2012 One Show and AICP - and spots like Fiat '
Get Ready' - which won a 2012 Yellow Pencil for Editing and a D&AD Award - as well as major campaigns for Nike, Target and HP. Mesina also recently teamed up with photographer Craig Stecyk for a video installation in MOCA’s “Art in the Streets” show.
In the film realm, Mesina crafted the Grammy-nominated documentary,
Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest, the celebrated feature documentary Beautiful Losers and is currently completing a documentary on champion boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao, directed by Academy Award-winning director Leon Gast.
Mesina’s move to Therapy is something of a homecoming as the editor got his start with EP Joe DiSanto and several Therapy staff members at now-shuttered Brass Knuckles editorial house. Mesina said: “It was inevitable that I’d be teaming up with these guys again. They’re like family. Creatively, Therapy is always involved in a range of amazing and diverse projects and to be able to work with everyone again, especially since I consider Fernando Villena one of my mentors, is really special to me.”
DiSanto adds: “We were all so fortunate to have crossed paths and forged great friendships, early in our careers. The whole team is so excited to have Lenny come and join us at our new home. We’ve all enjoyed watching his career soar over the last five years, and we’re ecstatic to start our new collaboration.”
