The World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe and Octopuss have collaborated on a new film with a purpose - to save the world.
The film sheds light on The Global Goals for Sustainable Development. These 17 Global Goals were agreed upon by world leaders in 2015, and seek to make the world a better place by 2030. With this film, WHO illustrates that health is an essential part of human development, relevant to everyone.
The film focuses on children who - by 2030 - will be teenagers on the cusp of adulthood. Through the eyes of three girls, we experience a world that on the surface looks safe and peaceful. Yet their world is far darker, showing a reality that no children should experience. The Global Goals aim to change this.
Under Mikkel Blaabjerg Poulsen's direction, the film provides a stunningly beautiful imagining of how the world could be: “Too few people realise that the Global Goals exist," said Mikkel. "They are very ambitious - the 2030 goals are generally the best political project for the globe right now, so everyone has a part to play in reaching them together.”
The film premiered at the 11th European Public Health Conference on 29 November 2018. The conference is considered the premier European gathering of public health professionals worldwide. More than 500 delegates including researchers, policymakers, practitioners and teachers in public health and many other related fields participated.
