Imaginary Forces' Anthony Gibbs leads team of Black creators and technologists from Los Angeles, New York, London and Paris on project

Over Black History Month a group of Black creatives and technologists used the downtime from their jobs to create THE BLACK ARTS PROJECT - an NFT collective that aims to harness the power of Black creativity and make the Web3 world more inclusive for Black people.

Led by Anthony Gibbs, an LA based creative at Imaginary Forces, THE BLACK ARTS PROJECT is a team of Black creators and technologists from Los Angeles, New York, London and Paris.

Anthony says “The Black Arts Project is an artistic community that not only nurtures black creativity but preserves it. Helping to inspire black artists and drive Positive change through creativity.”

THE BLACK ARTS PROJECT officially launches on the 1st of March, the day after Black History Month ends. “The team behind the project wanted to mark the move from Black History to Black Futures.” says Anthony.

THE BLACK ARTS PROJECT inspires future Black artists, as well as giving Black artists galleries in the metaverse to preserve their work as well as encourage more art to be produced.

THE BLACK ARTS PROJECT are working on NFT collaborations with a number of different Black artists, young and old, lesser known and established.

Their inaugural collection is a collab with the brilliant Black artist from Paris, Aurélia Durand, known for her striking work for Apple and Google as well as for the cover and illustrations for numerous books including The New York Times bestseller "This Book is Anti-Racist" by Tiffany Jewell.

The NFT collection, which will mint later in March, will be called "THE BLACK ARTS PROJECT First Edition x Aurélia Durand."

25% of all funds raised by the project will to go towards numerous Black causes ranging from grass roots community support for creative talent through to the more future facing creation of virtual galleries in the metaverse. An additional 5% of funds will be used as a carbon offset for the collection.

At its core THE BLACK ARTS PROJECT want to use their NFT collections for positive change, creating a global community focussed on harnessing and celebrating the power of the Black Arts.
