The Amazing Legacy of Strelka, The First Pup to Make it Back from Space

Almost six decades ago, a self-piloted spacecraft made history in space. Today, one of its crew members is the protagonist of a campaign on the most avant-garde autopilot technology of the 21st century: Audi piloted driving.

DDB Spain is the agency behind Audi's new branded content campaign: Strelka’s Legacy, a tribute from the brand to a very special saga. His matriarch, Strelka, was a Russian stray dog who became the first living being to go back and forth from space. On her return, she was treated like a heroine and had puppies with another cosmonaut dog.

56 years later, Audi and DDB have followed in his footsteps to learn about the history of his descendants. An exciting journey that begins in the turbulent Cold War and goes on to the present day. From the stratosphere to Missouri, passing through the Kremlin, the White House and the glamorous Hollywood of the 1960s.



To carry out the campaign, DDB and BLUR have collaborated with a team of documentary filmmakers who have moved to the USA to investigate, on the ground, the successors of the famous Soviet dog. The result is available at www.legadodestrelka.es/en. A digital platform that provides a backbone for the different contents of the campaign:

- An interactive documentary that reveals an exciting real story, told by those who lived it in the first person.
- The exciting viral video that recreates Strelka's great-great-grandson tribute to his admired grandmother, to the beat of Iggy Pop's powerful song "Wild One".
- And a section showing Sputnik's Soviet technology versus the sophisticated autonomous driving innovations. The Audi piloted driving.

This high-performance vehicle incorporates the autonomous driving system that Audi has been perfecting for more than 15 years, to allow future models to drive themselves without the help of a driver. A technology that, together with the Audi adaptive cruise control, Audi active lane assist or Audi Traffic Jam Assist, is changing the driving concept.

Audi communicates its avant-garde technology with a surprising campaign that reveals that the pioneering spirit is a quality that sometimes goes beyond humans.
