Sony/ATV artist Taylor Swift has won three honours at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, including video of the year for 'You Need To Calm Down'.
It was the second time that the Sony/ATV songwriter had won the top video prize at the annual MTV event, having been recognised in the same category in 2015 for her Kendrick Lamar collaboration “Bad Blood”.
“You Need To Calm Down” also claimed the Video for Good honour at this year’s ceremony, which was held on Monday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, while Swift’s song “Me!” with Brendan Urie won Best Visual Effects. Both songs were co-written by Swift with Sony/ATV songwriter Joel Little.
Other Sony/ATV winners included BTS who were named Best Group and won Best K-Pop for “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey, while Camila Cabello won Best Collaboration and Best Cinematography for her Shawn Mendes duet “Senorita”. The pair performed the song together for the first time in public at the ceremony, just hours after it had climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
There were also wins for Sony/ATV signings Cardi B (Best Hip Hop for “Money”), The Chainsmokers (Best Dance for “Call You Mine” with Bebe Rexha) and Normani (Best R&B for “Waves” featuring 6lack).
