Since 2007 The Young Creative Council has shared an ambition of making the advertising industry more fun, creating & curating content hosting events and generally making a nuisance of themselves in order to help graduates and juniors make the transition from education into creative side of advertising.
The YCC has had mild success on Twitter and on Facebook. They like to write with a cheeky tone as part of the under-current of the industry.
As the ‘YCC’ has grown it has tried many things, some more successful than others, one of those being an idea that came to fruition in 2010 through our frustrations with the industry, that idea was singlecreatives.com, a website with the sole purpose to help solo creatives team up with one another, be it art directors, copywriters or creatives – whatever works. Having featured over 350 profiles to date, there’s clearly been a demand for it. The plans YCC has in the pipeline only make it better and more intuitive.
Every so often, singlecreatives.com returns in the flesh, a physical manifestation under the banner of the 'Single Mingle'.
You can find a couple of albums from previous Mingles, which shows the kind of format they follow here and here.
The numbers of success stories from these events are literally countless with a high number of people teaming up and finding work in not only London but around the world.
The next Single Mingle is happening on 29.10.14, at Naked Communications in Farringdon, where forty creatives will discuss their tactics to take over adland in the coming months.
Naked London is supporting the YCC in their mission to develop the next generation of creative talent in London and beyond. Christian Gladwell, Naked CEO said: "The YCC is important. Our industry exists to generate demand for our client's products, brands and services across society, yet we exclude many strata of that very society from a career in communication. At the root of the YCC is the drive to open up our industry to those to whom it would usually be shut. To broaden the catchment area of strategic creativity. That has to be a good thing. We're delighted to support Paul, Mike and the YCC both in this event and for the long-term"
