Park Village has joined forces with Women in Advertising and Save the Children to host the second SWAG SWAP party – a charitable clothes-swapping and networking event. SWAG SWAP will take place at Park Village on November 17th.
The aim of the event is to organise a networking opportunity which is both original and charitable. Anything from clothes, jewellery, shoes and bags are exchanged as well as business cards. Food and drinks are served, and there’ll be a special guest DJ.
Park Village’s Rena Jett, who organised the event, says “It’s important to offer something guests can gain from an event. Usually, it’s free drinks and new contacts. But this event, being solely aimed at women in advertising, not only supports women and inspires their place in the workforce, but is charitable, current and provides a fun, energetic and creative environment to connect with people. How many times have you heard the ladies complain they can’t find anything to wear, or have too much junk in their closets?”
The heaps of lovely clothes that are left behind are donated to Save the Children’s second hand stores. As well as this, Park Village have created SWAG SWAP t-shirts which all sold to show both support and to raise more money.
At the event you’ll be able to try on new outfits and walk away with new clothes – as well as meeting and connecting with other women.
Rena comments “Working with Women in Advertising is a real pleasure as I hope to connect more women in the industry, as we provide support and inspiration for one another. Although we have been given the right to vote, are more and more integrated in the workforce, the advertising industry is still male dominant and this space provides a neutral ground for women to express their talents. We’ve also set a target to raise a certain amount of money for charity and to give something back to the world.” She adds “If there is one thing the girls could walk away with, I’d like it to be great optimism.”
It’s the second time that Park Village have hosted the event, which also includes food and drinks as well as a special guest DJ.
Rena says “It does get a little messy towards the end - what do you expect when put any group of women together with wine and clothes, but we make sure that everyone has packed their bags with their new freebies and gets home safe.”
All guests are encouraged to take photos of their new goods and share them on Facebook or on Twitter, @parkvillageltd, with #swagswap.
SWAG SWAP starts at 18:30 on Monday 17th November at the Park Village Studio, 1 Park Village East, London NW1 7PX.
