Welcome to “Sunset Overdrive.”
This action-packed trailer, created by Psyop and Microsoft for Insomniac Games and XBox, is a constantly changing, open-world shooter ready for a fight. Viewers get to spend a day in the life of a zombie slayer and are shown a glimpse of the game’s outlandish weapons and unpredictable environments.
“The goal was to create an energetic and irreverent trailer that would showcase the unique attitude, gameplay, and design of a kickass next-gen title,” commented Psyop Creative Director, David Chontos.
The camera follows a cavalier avatar as he zips through downtown and takes on the zombie uprising. Bright, saturated colors and rich details - like the comic book-style text and cheeky graphic overlays - mimic gameplay and accentuate the relentless action, gore and animation throughout of the spot.
“It’s been fantastic to have partners who enthusiastically support a super stylized aesthetic, humor and rockinf--kingroll attitude,” commented Ted Price, CEO and President of Insomniac Games.
The “Sunset Overdrive” trailer previewed for the first time at E3 in Los Angeles last week and will be available exclusively on Xbox One gaming consoles.
