Daniel is a writer and director who believes that the funniest things in life exist side by side with the most tragic ones. He is spending days trying to turn these things into stories, and these stories into films. Before that he worked as a creative at agencies such as Crispin Porter + Bogusky, BBH and VMLY&R. Before that he was briefly studying in Kyiv to become a diplomat.
His work has been recognised at D&AD and Creative Circle, as well as picking up numerous staff picks in Campaign, Adweek and shots.net. Daniel is a jiu-jitsu blue belt and a proud Ukrainian, among other things.
Daniel’s latest short film ‘Shadowboxer’ has also recently launched.
One man’s quest for fighting glory casts a shadow on his life.
What lies behind any motivational voiceover in every over-the-top sports film?
Who does our desire to destroy the competition at all cost really hurt?
Are we our greatest opponents?
These questions, as well as a dose of heatwave-induced hysteria, are the inspiration behind Daniel Liakh’s and Daniel Boulton’s short film ‘Shadowboxer’.
