Director Stephen T Lally has shot this eclectic and mesmerising trailer for Kenneth Tindall's upcoming ballet 'The Architect'.
Stephen commented on the project: "I threw myself at the challenge of creating a short film that was as much a visceral impression of the show, as it was a trailer.
"The overarching theme of the ballet is a twist of the Adam and Eve story, and my task as director was to create a stylised narrative for the piece - showcasing the show, but also interweaving stylised film vignettes we could never achieve onstage.
"The raw sexuality and physical power of the dancers inspired me. As well as shooting these incredibly talented dancers in their Northern Ballet theatre in Leeds, I also had an additional studio shoot day in London where I storyboarded all the beauty triptychs that allowed me to get up close and personal with them - and later manipulate their bodies in post. I really wanted to highlight the physical beauty and intensity of this remarkable group of dancers, through dynamic dance sequences, and more surreal beauty vignettes."
The project was funded by a Kickstarter campaign championed by Northern Ballet dancer turned choreographer Tindall, and produced and edited by Sarah Morgan.
