Stardust expanded its creative reach and took the product promotion category to new heights in the Lowes recent spring and summer campaigns via BBDO. The spots, a product of a deep collaboration between Stardust and the agency team, highlight Simple Steps To Spring and Summer in stop-motion style and infused with the joy and home improvements - associated with the blossoming Spring and Summer seasons.
Traditional stop motion, a look we all loved, was too laborious and expensive, so we created something that embodies that sensibility, says Stardust Partner/Director Seth Epstein. We constantly pushed each other to make the spots effective and engaging.
In today's advertising and production climate, time and communication are as essential as the creative itself and this project is a perfect example of how advertising benefits from a trusted relationship. BBDO really embraced an open dialogue and we truly worked together to achieve a superior result, adds Stardust Managing Partner Dexton Deboree.
In addition to live-action production and animation, Stardust provided design and editing creative. Based on the initial success of the campaign, Stardust has finished two rounds for Spring and Summer 2013; with a third and fourth round in development now for the upcoming Fall and Winter promotions.
"When I first approached Dex to see if the project was right for him and his team, I wasn't sure what the answer would be, explains Kevin Wilson, VP/Executive Producer at BBDO. What BBDO and Lowes were looking for was a partner that could deliver a very considered and slightly unorthodox technique to filmmaking, while keeping the Brand ethos in tact. Through a strong collaboration with BBDO, Seth, Dex and the whole team at Stardust developed an approach that nailed the ask and truly elevated the end product beyond expectations. Lowes is thrilled with the success of both campaigns to date; and BBDO couldn't be happier with the work we are doing with Stardust.
"Seth is a wizard behind the scenes and a great Director. He's always working on the best way to get what we need using the latest technologies and techniques. When it came time to do the Summer campaign, there was no question we'd be working with Stardust again. Stardust is easy to work with and very accommodating to our needs not to mention good fooseball players! concludes The Creative Team from BBDO: Art Director Klane Harding, Copywriter Patrick Koelling, and Creative Director Dominick Baccollo.
