On the heels of the hugely successful Tribeca Film Festival, which showcased a series of films sound edited and mixed at Sound Lounge, Ryan Price has emerged as one of the most touted Mixers of this year’s new films. Having created the sound design and completed final mix for feature film, “Another Earth,” Price collaborated closely with Director Mike Cahill on the science-fiction film.
Making its world premiere in the Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival in January, “Another Earth” won a Special Jury Prize and the Alfred P. Sloan Award. Within 24 hours of the premiere, the film was purchased by Fox Searchlight. Currently on the film festival circuit, “Another Earth” will have a limited theatrical release starting July 22nd.
“It was a great pleasure working with Ryan at Sound Lounge,” comments Director Mike Cahill. “His passion for his craft, attention to detail, and excitement for pushing limits, made him the ideal collaborator. Sound Lounge is definitely the place to go if you are looking for the perfect sound.”
“Between Mike's incredible storytelling, the immense talent of Brit Marling and William Mapother, and my love of good, well-done science fiction; I was on board for ‘Another Earth’ the first time Mike told me about it,” says Mixer Ryan Price. “Mike gave me a lot of freedom to experiment with the sound; some scenes in the film contain no dialogue but Rhoda's (Brit Marling) face says a thousand words. I attempted to emphasize her internal struggle along with the shifting dynamics between Rhoda and John using sound design that complemented their great performances. Combined with the score from ‘Fall On Your Sword’ I am happy to say I believe it was achieved.”
